Leadership and Diversity in Organizations: Perspectives of Multiethnic American Leaders - Phenomenological doctoral study to describe the perceptions, experiences, and understandings of leadership among mixed and mono-ethnic leaders in diverse workplace settings to discover common themes and patterns. Twenty leaders from Arizona were interviewed, 75% of whom were in the field of education. A snowball sampling technique yielded 11 females and nine males of the following races/ethnicities: 4 Asian Americans, 4 Latino Americans, 3 African Americans, 3 Whites, 3 Native Americans, and 3 Creole Americans (mixed race). The study yielded themes inherent in the concept of diversity: self-esteem, identity, stereotyping, perception, and oppression; common leadership characteristics; and a new leadership model--Eclectic Leadership. Sold thru Lambert Academic Publishing and ProQuest Publishing.

Diversity is U & Me (high school survival guide 2nd edition) - The tween and teen years are at the top of the list of difficult stages in human development! As soon as they are told "no," this group's initial feeling is, "S/he hates me!," so of course the safest defensive response is, "I hate you!" Compound the physical and hormonal changes occurring in these young people with the plethora of negative influences that permeate their world (peer pressure, substance abuse, sex, violence) and it's no wonder why suicide, truancy and delinquency remain options that appeal to too many of our troubled youth. Exploring and understanding the concept of diversity and its inherent themes and lessons of self-esteem/identity, stereotyping, perception, and oppression, can cast significant light into this persistent darkness. Learn how to identify your authentic self; develop healthy self-esteem; recognize the deceptions of perceptions; avoid the negative effects of stereotyping; and diminish oppression.

This book helps you to gain perspectives that will prepare you socially and culturally for the higher education experience. Learn to cope, bolster your self-esteem and confidence, and gain peace of mind to attain the maximum fulfillment such a personal, rewarding experience can bring!

Diversity is Me (survival guide for people of mixed race)
- As human beings we all share a spirit that demands identity, acknowledgment and regard. It is in the attempts to meet these demands that we encounter road blocks toward self-discovery. Who am I? Why am I here? What is my purpose? As we seek answers to these questions, perceptions come alive and often trick us. The results: We form nebulous identities. Our self-esteem becomes skewed. We stereotype. We oppress and thus cultivate oppressors. Compound these innate human tendencies with the confusion and uncertainty we people of mixed ancestry face, and the challenge can become emotionally insidious. The purpose of this book is to acknowledge people of mixed race and to encourage you to embrace EVERY part of yourself, and in the process cultivate a healthy self-esteem and inner peace. This book is not about passing; it is about Being.

Diversity Teacher (survival guide for teaching in a diverse classroom). In a technologically explosive era that seems to be producing more sophisticated children, it is more crucial than ever to teach the whole child. It is no longer adequate to focus on the “3 Rs,” because students today demand more. They want to know why they must learn what you’re teaching; how it applies to their lives—what’s in it for them; and what can you teach them that they can’t learn from their computer? Not to mention the isolating, autonomous atmosphere that computers cultivate, which discourages developing and honing social skills.

There are many books on the market that address self-esteem. This book does so as well, but it is much more than a tool to develop a healthy self-image. It is a source for understanding the core of human tendencies and needs, no matter the person’s race, culture, age, or gender. Such understanding can lead to a more positive outlook on the job in particular and life in general; reduction in stress and anxiety; and ultimately cultivation of inner peace.
